"Word Detective" is an engaging one-hour virtual workshop designed for educators (and families!) practicing early reading and decoding strategies with their emergent readers. Throughout the workshop, participants will explore effective strategies to decode words, focusing on the building blocks of reading—the sounds, patterns, and structures that form the foundation of literacy. The workshop provides valuable insights and implementable resources to support their students in becoming successful "word detectives" on their journey to literacy.

What is Structured Literacy? 

Structured literacy is an explicit, systematic, and evidence-based instructional approach that forms the foundation of the "Word Detective" workshop. Participants will learn how structured literacy principles apply directly to phoneme-grapheme awareness and decoding strategies, offering a clear framework for effective teaching that benefits all students, particularly those at risk for reading difficulties.
